Pithouses
Pithouses were located on two
sites, 5MT10820 and LA80316. In
addition to having unique
pithouses, these sites were atypical for the Pueblo II period in that
they lacked both kivas and masonry surface rooms.
Based on their location on sites
without substantial surface struc-
tures or kivas, they are interpreted
as domestic structures. This inter-
pretation is corraborated by the
types of features located in the
structures, such as hearths, pot-
rests and storage cists. |

Pithuts
One site, LA80316, contained seven pithuts.
These structures were relatively small and shallow. They contained no
masonry, ventilators or benches. Their method of roofing is unknown, as
neither postholes nor roofing materials were found. These structures typically
contained
a central hearth and several of them contained associated ash pits. No
storage or ritual features were found in these small structures.
