With the proliferation of pot-
tery design styles during the
early Pueblo II period,
ceramic mean dates based
on the distribution of types
and styles are of greater util-
ity than earlier assemblages.
Whereas Basketmaker III
and Pueblo I wares
remained constant
(technologically and
stylistically) over longer peri-
ods of time, Pueblo II wares
underwent more rapid
change in all areas of design and surface treatments.
The distribution of Northern
San Juan ceramic types
from 5MT5498 clearly shows
the dominance of Pueblo II
Corrugated ceramics, sug-
gesting a 950-1130 assem-
blage. The white ware
types further support an
occupation between 950-
1130. |
