Technology: Faunal Bone & Shell
In addition to meat and eggs, animals provided the Pueblo I people with hides, sinew, bones, horns,
antlers, feathers and shells for use in making tools, clothing, gaming pieces and ornaments.

Tools included awls, drills, pins, needles, flakers, punches, scrapers, reamers and matting tools.
These tools were manufactured from mammals such as mule deer, jackrabbit, dog or coyote, and
bighorn sheep. Ornaments included tinklers and beads, and these, along with gaming pieces, were
made of either jackrabbit, unidentified large-sized mammal, or turkey bone, or marine shell.
