The 37 Archaic components are grouped into six site clusters based on their spatial locations. These
clusters probably do not represent social groupings of contemporaneous sites, but rather indicate
environmental niches that the Archaic people found favorable. The most utilized portion of the project
area was a 13.5-km-long segment of the pipeline corridor along the San Juan Slopes, north and east of
Aztec, New Mexico. Here were located 93% of the Archaic structures and 70% of the Archaic
components. |
