Chronology
The ages of 23 of the Archaic sites
were established by radiocarbon
analysis, as shown in the graph.
 
This graph clearly shows that the
Archaic sites represent the entire
temporal range of Archaic
occupation as presently defined in
the Southwest:
 
Early Archaic (8000-3500 B.C.)
Middle Archaic (3500-1500 B.C.)
Late Archaic
                (Lower @ 1500-500 B.C.)
          (Upper @ 500 B.C.-A.D. 500)
 
This graph also illustrates that while most of the sites were occupied for relatively short spans of time, five New Mexico sites (LA80320, LA27092, LA79076, LA80316 and LA81172) were sporadically occupied for thousands of years.
