The El Paso Trunk N Loop Project

The El Paso Trunk N Loop project is a construction project that was part of the large El Paso Field Services Global Compression Project. The Loop project consisted of building a second pipeline adjacent to the existing Trunk N pipeline to allow for higher quantities of natural gas to flow through the lines. Woods Canyon under the direction of Trigon-Sheehan and the BLM was responsible for the mitigation of cultural resource sites prior to construction.

Three sites were partially excavated for the Trunk N Loop pipeline project. These sites, LA27092, LA79076, and LA80320, consist of mulit-component habitation sites located northeast of Aztec, New Mexico. The excavations revealed houses from the Early and Middle Archaic periods, and a stockaded Anasazi Pueblo I settlement.
